Lauren Murray
Atlanta, GA
My name is Lauren and I’m new to Columbus! I’m a Georgia native & proud of it! In my free time, I love to read, cook, travel, exercise, and do anything outdoors. I’m also a recent grad, who was really tired of all that moving around during my schooling years. I went to the University of Georgia for undergraduate school, and Georgia Tech for my master’s degree (I know – house divided!). I stayed in the city of Atlanta for a while after graduating as I began to build my career, but ultimately was looking for somewhere with a bit of a slower pace to settle down in. Once I learned more about Columbus, that sealed the deal! I’m excited to make Columbus my home for years to come.

Scott Miller
Marietta, GA
scottmiller1127@gmail.com
(404) 217-6336We’re the Millers! My name is Scott and along with my wife Erin and 10-year old dog Oscar, we moved to Columbus, coming down from Marietta, Georgia. After growing up and living in the metro Atlanta area our whole life, we decided it was time for a change of pace. So after years of house hunting, we were able to finally pull the trigger, and it’s been a wonderful experience so far. We live in Midtown near Lake Bottom Park, a friendly and highly-walkable historic district that keeps us more active than we ever were in Marietta. I work remotely as a graphic designer and communications specialist for a global health NGO, and when I’m not working from my dining table, you can find me and my laptop at Fountain City Coffee or the Columbus Public Library.
One reason why we chose Columbus was the opportunity to be part of a tighter-knit community than what was available around Atlanta. And so far it’s worked out! As a hobby photographer, I’ve joined the Columbus Artists Guild and Photopia group for local photographers, both of which meet monthly. My wife has joined a true crime book club at the Columbus Public Library and taken beekeeping classes at Oxbow Meadows Environmental Center. And we both volunteer with the Chattahoochee Riverkeepers to help monitor water quality of nearby creeks. These groups have led us to meet a lot of people and keep us out and about in the community.
We’ve also packed our calendar with events every week, as we’ve been surprised at how much there is to do here. We love seeing live theater, music, and sports, and also take advantage of attending all the free events around town. (I’m especially excited for the start of baseball season, and bought season tickets to the new Columbus Clingstones minor league baseball team.) One of the biggest changes we’ve found here is that we’re able to just say “yes” to everything. Events are so close, with no traffic, free parking, and are often free themselves, that we can just say why not, and check out everything! It’s helped us quickly feel like we’re part of the community, while seeing all the city has to offer.

Thea Chambers
Virginia Beach, VA
tschambe@gmail.com
(706) 570-1743My name is Thea Chambers, and I’m proud to call Georgia my home. While I’ve always cherished the Peach State, and even though I spent the last 19-plus years living in Virginia Beach, VA—a place that became my beloved home away from home, GA was always on my mind. Though my time there was filled with wonderful memories, my heart yearned to return to my roots, and now I’m back where I belong.
I’m grateful to have my dear mom and sister nearby in Columbus, along with many relatives in the Atlanta area. My family, boyfriend, friends, and work are the core of my passion, and I find immense joy in caring for others.
Being a dog mom has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. I was lucky to have my sweet girl from just six weeks old until nearly her 19th birthday. She was the most amazing companion and held a special place in my heart. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of her, and she’ll always live on in my heart. She passed away this past fall, and her absence was another reason I felt called to move closer to my family.
Singing is one of my greatest loves. Over the years, I’ve shared my voice on various stages—from symphonies and worship bands to singing the National Anthem at major baseball and hockey games, and much more.
My job allows me to give back to others and help them achieve the dream of homeownership. From supporting our sales team, to collaborating on marketing efforts, event planning, content writing and so much more. My heart is thankful for a job where I feel valued and cared about as I pour into others each day.
The love and values my mother and family instilled in me have deeply shaped who I am. They taught me the importance of going the extra mile for my passions and lending a helping hand to those in need.
I feel truly blessed to be part of the Make My Move community and am forever thankful for this incredible opportunity.

Will Bishop
Tucker, GA
will.bishop@live.com
(706) 580-8623Born and raised in Columbus, GA, I spent my childhood biking to Cooper Creek Park to play tennis and playing guitar at local churches. My love for music inspired me to start a band, performing frequently at Gallery 13 (RIP), The Foxhole (RIP), and The Loft downtown. With a group of nine friends, I moved to Nashville, TN, where I spent seven years playing music and working at a recording studio. When the pandemic hit, I transitioned to a career in software development.
